AI Features and Data Processing

Important: Kindred includes AI-powered features using third-party providers (Anthropic Claude, OpenAI, Google Gemini).

When you use AI features:

  • Selected content is sent to our AI providers for processing
  • AI providers process your content to generate responses
  • We do not use your content to train AI models
  • AI provider privacy policies apply: Anthropic, OpenAI, Google

You can disable AI features in Settings at any time.

Data Storage and Security

Where Your Data is Stored

  • Primary database: PostgreSQL hosted on Vercel
  • Geographic location: United States
  • Backup frequency: Automatic daily backups retained for 30 days

Security Measures

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data:

  • Encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
  • Encryption at rest for sensitive data
  • Secure password hashing (bcrypt)
  • Regular security audits
  • Access controls and authentication
  • Secure API endpoints with rate limiting

However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We do NOT sell your personal information to third parties.

  • Note: Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone

  • Revoke API keys you've generated

Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service.

Retention periods:

  • Active account data: Retained while account is active
  • Deleted content: Removed within 30 days (backup copies within 90 days)
  • Closed accounts: Data deleted within 30 days of closure
  • Logs and analytics: Retained for up to 90 days

Children's Privacy

Kindred is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately. We will delete such information from our systems.

International Users

If you are accessing the Service from outside the United States, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate.

By using the Service, you consent to the transfer of your information to countries outside of your country of residence, which may have different data protection rules.
